  • Absolutely love coming here. Lisa and staff are always so welcoming and friendly and always make a perfect Poutine dish - if you haven't tried it, you are missing out! Thank you ever so much for making today extra special by providing candles for mine and my nephews birthday. See you all soon

  • It being half term, with the streets packed, I decided to have an early lunch at this popular cafe. It was pleasantly busy with a nice atmosphere and a very friendly welcome. It was interesting to see the vast numbers of freshly baked scones coming out of the ovens, no doubt all to be devoured as the day progressed. I opted for the 'slow braised beef hash with kimchi, roasted mushrooms, onion and homemade Gochujang hot sauce'. Hot it most certainly was, but the helpful server did warn me. It was a dish that, had it been prepared fresh, would probably have been wonderful. However, much of the base ingredients appeared to have spent their more recent lives in a microwave rather than a frying pan. (May the chef forgive me if that was not the case). To be frank, the onions and mushrooms were just mush, rendering the diced fried potatoes soggy. (£12.99). Bad choice, but I am sure to return and will make a different selection the next time. A few extra thoughts; the tip jar had a few fivers stuck among the coins. It reminded me of a former Dean at Norwich Cathedral who told me he always left some notes among the coins in the giant collection boxes 'to encourage larger donations'. The stairs upstairs to the loos are somewhat challenging to a 71 year old. Oh and they have really fast WiFi, coming in at 72.3 Mbps.

  • Only discovered this wonderful place after hearing of their recent achievements from good food awards. Lovely food with plenty of options on the menu. I absolutely loved the loaded fries, and the mac & cheese was amazing too, with quality cheese being used, a true sign of a passionate chef. Will be back very soon to sample the rest of the menu. Truly well deserved award

  • My partner and me stumbled across this wonderful little café yesterday, whilst exploring Bury St Edmunds. We were looking for something a little different and had just walked out of The Olive Grove, after seeing it was going to cost us £10 for a glass of house wine, amongst other high priced items. My partner noticed poutine advertised on the board outside and knowing what it was, unlike me, wanted to give it a try. All I can say is, we weren't disappointed. The staff were lovely, the service was exceptional, with attentive, polite, friendly staff. The food was very good for the price bracket, with some really good flavour profiles going on. We had the hot dog and beef bahn-mi sandwiches, which we shared. We also had the poutine, obviously, and the loaded fries, all of which were generous portions, in fact, we probably didn't need two portions of fries. Despite being told they were a portion for one, so expecting small portions like everywhere else, we were shocked at the generosity when they arrived at our table, all in very good time, I must add. The poutine was a first for me. Seasoned fries with cheese curd and a thick tasty chicken gravy. I mean, come on, what's not to like? The spice and flavour profile on the loaded fries was certainly up there at my limit. Yes! They're £10, but those moaning in previous reviews, have you actually been shopping lately, or seen the cost of rents, rates, food, and wages, etc? Get a grip! The sandwiches were both large and well filled, again, with good flavour combinations. The staff checked on us throughout our time, always asked if everything was ok, which it was. They also asked if we were finished before clearing anything away, and were non-stop looking after all of the many customers that were constantly coming in, despite closing time looming. The decor, atmosphere, and general ambience of the cafe was warm and welcoming, with a constant buzz of happy people and music playing in the background. We had two hot, loaded sandwiches, two big bowls of speciality fries, two glasses of wine, and two cokes, all for just over £50. And yes, I even stuffed a note in the side of the tip jar. Not because I felt obliged, or there was one already in there, but because I always tip 10% if, and only if, I think the food and service warrant it. On this occasion, it far than exceeded my expectations, and I'm glad my partner spotted it. I've read the bad reviews and tried to cover the surprising comments using my own experience. All I can say is, you can never please everyone all of the time. This place is a little hidden gem, and we will definitely be returning to explore the menu further.

  • Came into this lovely cafe and had the Texas beef sandwich with fries…OH MY GOD! This was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had I highly recommend coming here to try some of their menu. Staff are so friendly and kind, happy to help with anything you ask for. Overall my experience at this cafe was outstanding, I will be returning to try out the other items on the menu that looked so delicious! I’m sad to say I didn’t get any pictures as the sandwich was devoured almost instantly.

  • A great little place in St John’s St, aka “the cool quarter “ in Bury St Edmunds. We stopped in for a quick coffee and a snack to be greeted by a lovely friendly welcome. The coffees were great, why wouldn’t they be as they use Butterworth & Sons, a local coffee supplier with a high reputation. We had a cranberry scone with clotted cream and jam, it was warm and fresh, also we had chocolate chip cookies, all delicious. Highly recommended.
